Dancing Salsa wasn’t a first choice for Octavio (Tavo) Parral. When initially asked to dance Salsa by his roommate Tavo always found some other activity to do. Finally, he decided to attend an open house class for San Antonio Salsa on 2 and everything changed. “Salsa has a way of connecting people together by communicating through dancing,” Tavo says about what he enjoys most from dancing Salsa. With no experience dancing Salsa Tavo found himself in a shy, self-conscious state about his skills. All it took were a few classes for Tavo to open himself up and immerse into Salsa. “You definitely need an open mind in order to learn.” Tavo will continue to improve and enjoy dancing with San Antonio Salsa on 2. When he isn’t dancing, Tavo is teaching the youth at Frank Madla Elementary School.
